The Power and Beauty In His Creation (Psalms 65: 5-8 NKJV)

Have you ever taken a moment to stop and look around? Taking notice of the flow of the leaves, the sound of the waves, and the bustling noise of the city. Whether it's loud or quiet, is there ever a moment in your life where it's the only thing you can focus on? I can safely say that I have, in fact, there's a little park I go to just for moments like this. Moments when I can close my eyes and enjoy the noise of creation. My point in bringing up such questions is this: that you, yourself, become curious about what it sounds like to find peace in the noise and the presence of God's creation. In the verses mentioned for today's devotional, we can read that God is the one who "established the mountains by His strength," that God is the one who "stills the noise of the seas," that God is the one who "makes the outgoings of the morning and evening rejoice." God is the one with the power, and He is the one who controls what some may see as the natural way of life. Let's not forget either that it is God who "stills the tumult of the peoples," meaning God in his power and righteousness, also quiets the uproar of the people. This is more than a symbol of the control God has over the world; In fact, the passage, where these verses are found, is about the salvation and providence of God. The firm ground we walk on, the peace we receive, the beautiful sights we stare at in awe, all of it, is provided to us from God. It is through these wondrous works and mesmerizing sights that we see God, and we acknowledge His power. So, I encourage you to take a moment to rest in the knowledge and beauty of God's wonderful creation, and thank Him for the providence and salvation He gifts us with it.
